Please consider us for support in your plastic part material selection. Our engineers are happy to suggest material to fit any need. Machining plastic every day gives them a deep insight into plastic selection.
Please review the following material information and learn more about choosing the right material for your design.
With the highest heat resistance of all fluoroplastics, Teflon/PTFE 7B is also the most widely used material in its class. Noted for its exceptional mechanical strength, resistance to nearly all industrial chemicals and solvents, and a unique, non-stick surface, Teflon/PTFE 7B is utilized in applications ranging from electrical components to small kitchen appliances. The resin retains its properties across an extensive range of temperatures and under high load.

Nylon and Nylatron
Lighter and longer wearing than metals and other engineering materials, nylon and Nylatron also offer lower fabricated part cost in a wide variety of applications. Used extensively across multiple industries, the material provides an ideal combination of high strength and toughness, outstanding chemical and corrosion resistance, and exceptional wear and abrasion resistance.
Nylon and Nylatron offer design and application flexibility with a variety of grade options, including unfilled, glass fiber filled, oil filled, internally lubricated, heat stabilized and fiber reinforced. The material can be cast as finished parts and near net shapes, or can be custom cast for even greater design versatility. Nylon and Nylatron are easily machined, extruded and fabricated.

Acrylic
An inherently lightweight yet rigid material, acrylic provides a cost-effective and versatile alternative to glass and other heavier plastics. It easily withstands the heat from sunlight, cold weather, and dramatic temperature changes, making it a reliable performer in applications requiring outdoor exposure. With a clear, colorless and transparent surface, acrylic provides nearly distortion-free clarity when used in windows, displays, signage and lighting fixtures.
Acrylic is dimensionally stable, preventing shrinkage over time. This easily handled and processed material can be machined, thermoformed, sawed, drilled, laser-cut, filed, and polished, and is ideally installed in frames. Like many plastics, acrylic expands and contracts with temperature changes, and framing will need to be designed accordingly.
