Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FAW Car Co., Ltd. (FAW Car), a subsidiary of China's state-owned automaker FAW Group, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Bosch Automotive Products (Suzhou) Co., Ltd to jointly develop autonomous driving technologies, according to local media.
Apart from the collaboration in autonomous vehicle domain, both parties will join forces to develop environmentally friendly new energy vehicles (NEVs) for thoughtful mobility services, with the ultimate goal of creating a harmonious connection between human and vehicles.
FAW Group is one of the leaders in China's autonomous driving industry, particularly in commercial vehicle automation. On April 18, the group officially unveiled its L4 self-driving truck and announced that the all-new Jiefang J7, which was developed by its CV subsidiary FAW Jiefang, has rolled off the production line.
In addition, FAW Group received provisional licenses from Changchun municipal government that allow certain autonomous models, including the Hongqi H7, the Besturn X80 and the Jiefang J7, to be tested on roads. Just one day later, the group obtained a similar license for its Hongqi H7 from another city Chongqing.
FAW Group also forged partnership with Chinese Internet giant Baidu as early as July, 2017. Two companies agreed to conduct cooperation in such areas as Internet of Vehicles (IoV), autonomous vehicles, brand promotion, innovative marketing as well as cloud services.
Last week , the Germany-based automotive supplier Bosch and Baoneng Auto inked a strategic cooperation agreement to work together on developing vehicles, smart urban traffic system and such cutting-edge technologies as EV(electric vehicle) system, autonomous driving and IoV.
